The mission of adult ministries is to “love, reach and disciple” all adults in the community. First Baptist Church Duluth does that primarily through our Sunday morning small group gathering called Sunday School. It is in these life stage groups where we care for each other and share together as we look to the Bible as our source for purpose, direction and meaning.
Sunday School is a place to establish relationships and develop roots as we study the Bible together. We believe that God can speak to our deepest needs in the context of community.
There are other components of adult ministry as well.
- Women’s Bible Study – During the school year, a group meets on Tuesday mornings and another on Wednesday nights. Both of these groups use a video driven curriculum. Childcare, by reservation, is provided for both groups.
- Special Events –Opportunities are provided throughout the year for women to participate in day or weekend retreats, mission activities (education, prayer and projects) and fellowship experiences with women of all ages.
Men’s Bible Study – Men meet most Monday mornings from 8:30 to 10:00. They use a variety of presentation methods.
Senior Adults –
- LLL (Live Long and Like it) gathers at noon on the first Tuesday of each month for lunch ($5.00) and a program. The programs offer a balance between entertainment, inspiration and education.
- The Senior Adults also take monthly day trips to points of interest.
Wednesday night opportunities–
A coed Bible study meets from 6:00 – 7:30 during the school year, going verse by verse through a selected book of the Bible.
Prayer Meeting meets from 6:00 to 6:45 during the school year. The church Prayer Guide is used as the basis of prayer time as well as other prayer emphasizes.
A 1.5 hour class for adults who are new to First Baptist Church Duluth is offered several times during the year. Topics include: who we are as a church, how we are organized to be the church and how you can join and be a part.
